Overview
Founded in 2011, WELM Ventures, LLC is a venture capital investment, advisory and strategy consulting firm founded by Roy M. Martin, Jr., a long-time senior executive with Truven Health Analytics, an IBM Company and division of IBM Watson Health, and before that, Thomson Reuters, a $12.2 billion global information and financial services company, and a successful executive in the computer industry prior to that. Mr. Martin has been president or general manager of 12 companies, most recently chief operating officer of Truven, and prior to that, president and CEO of the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters, a $1.1 billion global company which provides tax software, workflow and information products to multi-national corporations and professional accounting firms.

WELM Ventures invests its own entrepreneurial capital, focusing on early stage technology companies in multiple industries, but particularly information, big data and analytics, and professional software in multiple customer markets including corporate enterprise, tax & accounting, healthcare IT, medical device, and legal. The firm seeks opportunities to not only invest, but to also assist founders and management as an active partner through specialized advisory services, consulting (typically corporate strategy, sales & marketing, and business development) and board work.
